A pharmacy team in Wiltshire have been introduced to their new robotic colleagues.
Great Western Hospital in Swindon is using two electronic employees to reduce the time it takes to deliver prescriptions to patients.
According to pharmacy operations manager Sarah Davis, they will help to reduce the chances of human errors taking place.
She also noted that the two robots - which are named Wall-E and Eve - will improve stock control and reduce the cost of expired drugs, thereby cutting the amount of waste they produce.
However, pharmacy workers have been assured that the two robots will not lead to human staff being made superfluous to requirements.
Indeed, Ms Davis said the robots would "free up time for pharmacy staff to go onto wards and support direct patient care where they are needed".
This comes after the Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was honoured at the HRM Awards with an "Excellence in Improving Employee Health and Wellbeing" gong.
